Privacy

Short version: we collect as little as possible, we never sell it, and you can leave at any time.

City search

When you search for a city, the text you type is sent to the Open-Meteo geocoding service to find matching places. All Moon calculations then run inside your own browser. Your last city is remembered only in your browser’s local storage, on your device. “Use my location” asks your browser for permission first; your coordinates are used on your device and are not sent to us.

Your approximate city on arrival

So the home page can open on the Moon over your own area, our hosting provider (Cloudflare) estimates your approximate city, region, country, coordinates and time zone from your internet connection’s IP address when the page loads. This is a rough, city-level estimate (often off by many miles), it never asks for or uses your device’s GPS, and it is not stored, logged by us, or shared — it is sent back only to your own browser to pick which city to show, and that response is marked not to be cached. If you search for a city or tap “My location”, your own choice is used instead and remembered only on your device.

App & offline use

If you install Skyline Moon as an app, a service worker keeps copies of the site’s pages, styles and images on your device so it opens quickly and works offline. These copies contain no personal information and are removed when you uninstall the app or clear site data. In the Skyline Moon phone apps, your saved cities, last city and alert settings are stored only on your phone, and Moon alerts (moonrise, full Moon, supermoon, meteor showers) are calculated and scheduled on the phone itself; none of this is sent to us.

Email updates

If you subscribe to Moon emails, we store your email address, the city you chose (name, coordinates and time zone), how often you want emails, and when you subscribed. We use this only to send the Moon updates you chose. Nothing is sent until you confirm your address from the email we send you.

• Every email contains a one-click unsubscribe link. After you unsubscribe, we stop sending immediately and delete your address.
• Emails are delivered through our email provider (Resend), which processes your address only to deliver them.
• We do not sell, rent or share your email address with anyone else, and we do not add tracking pixels to our emails.
